for eileen

'Just finished a jacket in fabulous yellow felt for loyal friend and customer Eileen. Today she came in and showed me a cache of pins she had collected in New York . They were like painting and sculpture combined -and will soon take their turns as closure and ornament on her new garment.

sincerely on sale

COREY&CO is having a sale to celebrate the very first year of business. It's time to clear out some winter woolies and get ready for the very thrilling next round of designs coming soon from Whenever Wherever, Angg and Covet. After selecting pieces in New York, I do some thumbnail sketches on the journey home of what I have chosen. And as this selection took place months ago, I have only the vaguest idea of what to expect....but I know it was all GOOD. Then ,of course, I have some plans of my own for 'what-to-make-next' and thats exciting, too. Please visit soon if possible, and if not, "see you on the blog".

I do like my family photos and occasionally tack them up around the shop. In the dressing room right now is a real variety-pack. They run the gamut from dad poolside with friends back in the wool bathing suit days to my Swedish grandmother- a zither player in the Salvation Army. Quite the mixed lineage.

It has been one year since Corey&Co. opened its doors on Pleasant Street. Now a new year begins for us all and for the shop. It is good to look back before looking forward, so here are some pictures of the progression. My original, if vague, vision for the shop was somewhat different to what it has become. I have followed where enthusiasm has led- mine and customers'- and find that the greatest interest is in garments I think up and construct here. This revelation is having a liberating effect on me and if I have a New Year's resolution (other than to begin painting again), it is to throw off convention and be more free in my designs. 'Promise.
